"People of Color"

I am tired of hearing the term “people of color” used when referring  to Black folks and their issues. Somehow the media and prominent people of influence have bought into this term when referring to Black people issues in the U. S. I don’t  mind this when other minorities have  common interests but many  Black issues are unique to the Black experience.
For instance, when we talk about reparations, should we include other groups? No. Only our ancestor were slaves . Only our ancestors dealt with the “Jim Crow” laws and school integration. We did the heavy lifting on  voting rights, and voter suppression too. We carry a heavy burden and acknowledgement of this is constant and should not be ignored. I know that the “term people color” is an inclusive term but there is no race of people that” catch hell “ like we do and I want this society to know that clearly.  Being Black is different because this society makes it so. I look forward to that day that is coming when we want have to use the term “people of color.” It is not offensive by design but  the term dilutes and distracts from  the role and plight of Black people in America and that’s not good for America because America suppose to be about liberty and justice for all. We have bought into this term because we have continued to let other define us.

This term “people of color” It does not refer to us all the time. It refers to us sometimes.  We are unique in the historical background of this Great Nation. Let’s not rewrite history. It’s etched in stone literally.  I am very proud to be Black. I get excited when I think about it sometimes. We are incredible people.
We have paid the highest price and invested the most blood, sweat, and tears and humiliation in the building of this great American society .We are still paying the highest price to keep America great. Give us our just dues.  I truly believe that America is the greatest nation in the history of world due in large part because of Black people. Our contributions are undeniable. We have never been paid for work we’ve done . That’s why I believe in reparations and I have developed a plan that will benefit the entire USA and the world too.  It is called “The American Reparation Plan .” When this plan is enacted it will serve as an unparalleled economic stimulus.  . AS a matter of fact reparations will send this economy to the stratosphere.

THIS SYSTEM IS RIGGED!!

This system is rigged. You hear a lot about this doing this political season. Have you thought about how this whole system is rigged against Black America.  It is so rigged that incremental equality remedies are so obsolete it boggles the mind and heart in this so called modern era.
Why should Black America  still be fighting the same fights over and over again. Either America believes that we have equal rights under the law or She don’t. All the Holy scriptures states that all men are created equal and even our blessed constitution states that inalienable rights are given to us by God our Creator. Under this present system All Americans are being short changed and America will never live up to Her God ordained potential until Her Black children are treated with justice. When Black people do good America does better. Have you noticed this? We are in this ship together and there is no way that you can deny that. So America has to embrace her Black children too. So far she has reneged on her promise to treat all Her children with love, respect and justice. The opposite is true.
America has been an abusive mother to her Black children so far. It’s time  for Her to make an honest attempt to make it right. It’s time for justice. America, will you be on the right side of history this time?. This day? Right now? We are Americans too and we are counting on you. We are loyal Americans. Of course, you know that but you need to be reminded right now. Will America continue to put her head in the sand and blame the perpetual victim? Or the designated victim? I don’t want be a victim.  I don’t want to use the victim word but it is appropriate.
I’ve concluded that Black Americans live in a cast system in America and only a certain percentage will succeed. That’s the case so far. One reason I  say this is because no matter what part of history you examine in America we have always been on the bottom and for the foreseeable future nothing will change unless we do something different and the responsibility should be on every segment of society. It’s a rigged system. It’s by designed. Let’s face it. I am tired of being on the bottom. No one should be assigned a position in society solely  because of the color of their skin. That’s not right. America suppose to be better than that. We suppose to be an example to the world. We suppose to be the gold standard. Are we a good example? Does She cherish all her children?
We have always been an integral part of the American society . I repeat, America would not be great without African Americans. That’s a bottom line fact and I can proud that. We have disproportionately contributed our blood, sweat and tears to the building of the greatest nation ever in the history of the world. End of story.I am so proud of that.” I am proud to be Black too.” I can openly say that I am proud to be Black especially now. I belong to an extraordinary race of people. There is no question about that. We are at a pivotal juncture in our history and our role in the making of America cannot be overstated. It’s huge. Let’s not rewrite history nor discount our role today nor yesterday. There will be no America as we know it without Black America and all races in America and around the world know this. It’s time to acknowledge , embrace and celebrate Black America. We should be celebrated  and not  denigrated.  All the races that migrated here over the last 100’s of years should say “thank you African Americans of old and  new for standing in  the gap for me and my ancestors over the  years. Thank you for providing the free and cheap labor to this society so that me and my ancestors had a more sound foundation to build unbelievable  wealth. Thank you and now let me help you pursue your dreams now. Let me stand in the gap for you now. That’s only the right thing to do.

That’s why I believe in reparations and I’ve come with a comprehensive plan that will restore the Black inheritance that we are owed because we were never paid for the work that we have done. The great news is that every segment of society will benefit from the “The American Reparation Plan.” The reason I call it “The American Reparation Plan” because it will repair America in a big way. Isn’t that amazing? This plan is a far reaching instrument that will send our economy into the stratosphere.

Response to "The National Review" Article About Reparations

Are you serious?  Mr. Coates only reminds all of America the long standing  injustices  and broken promises to former slave and their descendants.  Let me remind you that Black Americans  have been  really loyal Americans. We deserve Reparations.  Kicking the can further down the road is counterproductive. Reparations should be supported by all American including you. Black Americans have stood in the gap and sacrificed unwillingly for you and your friends and colleagues for hundreds of years and still do today. Show some appreciation. Support a just cause. No fair minded  person can work against this unless they are absent of the facts. We provided  you with an prosperous opportunity while we were denied ours. You should be on the reparation band wagon simply because it is the right thing to do. Don’t you believe in justice for all people? Or do you believe in justice for all people except Black people especially those in the United States. No amount of money can make it completely right but an inheritance of reparations surely would make our lives a lot better. I will go a step further and say All America will benefit just as much and I think White America  will benefit the most. I  am serious.
Honestly you come across as a racist. I hope you deny this because I want to believe that you are just uninformed. I am being objective. I cannot understand  how a 21st century White man could have such out dated beliefs especially with all the information available to you through science and technology. The information is there. Research it. If you lived in the 19th century it is a real good chance you would be a slave owner.
I say this  not to anger you but to wake you up. There is no way a man with justice in his heart can justify damaging a whole race of people for hundreds of years  and still feel that this Government  and society do not owe them anything. It’s a classic case of blaming the victim.
I suggest you get to know some Black people. Read  about  us. Read our history. It’s American history too. We are 100% American.
I still cannot understand  why you  have to respond to Mr. Coates article at all because any just person knows reparations will repair all of America not just the descendants of slaves. Personally I am so excited about the prospects of reparations. I am so glad Mr. Coates wrote on this subject. The article should have been name “The Overwhelming Case for Reparations.” I am sure that what he meant .
